BITHYNIA. Herakleia Pontika. Circa 530-520 BC. Hekte (Electrum, 10 mm, 2.58 g). Head of Herakles to left, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. BMC 7-11 ('Erythrai'). W. Fischer-Bossert: Die Elektronhekten mit dem Herakleskopf: Herakleia Pontike, nicht Erythrai, in: NZ 126 (2020), 85b (this coin, V41/R57). SNG Kayhan 737-8 ('Erythrai'). SNG von Aulock 1942 ('Erythrai'). An exceptionally sharp and attractive piece of vigorous archaic style. Light deposits and with a few minor scrapes on the reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
